I also think member lists should be removed
Also profiles for characters should be removed, it just doesn't belong in the wiki. Notable characters should be mentioned though in history pages.
Player sites should be left for reference, with an archive.org alternate link for downed pages.

A) Due to the recent purge of Geocities accounts, such as Maia's Terraforge, should we now bring back all of those character profiles that we removed from the wiki to reduce redundancy?

B) Would it bother folk if I used some information from books (that can be found on other web pages related to DartMUD) to flesh out some of our wiki, I truly believe it would help to make them more robust and informative.

C) Would it be that much of a problem to remove member lists from all the castle and guild pages? I have been absurdly tempted to just remove them every time I browse through the wiki, and I figure I should ask before I axe the content.

A) Could not find any secondary sources to pull in those old profiles, so they are apparently lost to the aether.

B) Decided against adding books, was just going to pull in the player race information from Raven's page. Then again it would flesh out the races quite well.

C) Removed member lists.

Further edits were made to the wiki, removed all Terraforge references, as it is DOA, and little tinkering here and there.

Cheers.

In reference to Character Profiles:

Who was the original creator of the site? Perhaps they have copies somewhere.

Maia created the Terraforge for dartmud, and the character displays for the main dartmud website as well as reformatting the layout of the dartmud website.

Maia of the RoE, or FG, hasnt been nearly as active at all in the past 4 years.

As for character Wiki profiles, Id say keep them to archivist sense of the terraforge site. - Providing Maia agrees or the Dartmud copyright owners agree to the use of the content.
For player created Wiki profiles, I would definately suggest the limitation of their usage.

Even for any record sake if it came to the management decision to remove and prohibit character profiles or player profiles in the wiki or else where - then it would perfectly permissible to remove my own player profile from the wiki.

-Note it is a player profile, not an (OOC) InGame character profile created by me.

Character profiles in the Maia's case were often created for posterity of the character who either died or does not play regularly, or became familiar with Maia enough to ask for a conceptual art drawing with basically... ANY kind of description.

Well I decided to add Frederic's Bestiary to the selectable races of DM as I felt it fleshed out the articles nicely. No amount of information contained within those passages could not be found elsewhere with a simple search, so I felt it did not compromise the game play of players, but perhaps enhance their knowledge of what they are about to under take. Cheers.

yes its good you used your resources to find what most of us have also already done

however that was not the last update
and none of the character pictures are working

also, not all of the character profiles are active from the last update

I was aware that it is missing alot, however it is better to have something rather than nothing.

Also not everyone may have been aware of the above site, so making it public is preferable rather than keeping it to myself.

wiki for player sites states:

Archived Dead Pages
Pages with functional archives as of 1/2010

* Blurred Plane
* Valech's Dartmud Page
* Grimtooth's Pit
* Darts And Crafts

all of those are using the same archive.org wayback machine

of which i believe i spent the time to make changes to allow those, maybe not one..

we can modify to forward to the archived terraforge if at best to the most recent usable state
since the site was last updated 2006 or 2007 with more player profiles and some new graphics / small content layout change
there are no archives of those unforunately
or atleast none that were working except for the front page

anyone want to pencil in some terraforge stuff?
since the orig owner has abandoned it for our benefit?

ogma want to contact maia?
yes no?
ancient players want to resend your profile request to maia from your old email inbox/sent folders?

adding the request to allow backing up his/her geocities site to a dartmud wiki for contextual reference?
is this thing functioning?

hey atleast my pc is keeping me warm!

Found all of the character pictures, but I am uncertain of who the picture belongs to and am missing a background for said characters. If anyone has a complete backup of the profiles I could probably patch together everything.

While we wait I am going to see if other avenues will lead to a backup of Terraforge being discovered. Fingers crossed.

To the powers that be,

I have noticed that PmWiki has had a large amount of updates that fix vulnerabilities in the system, add interesting things, and so forth. Will we be updating our wiki to the most recent version of PmWiki or will we remain using what we have?

i dont know
if you look at it though

TK built this on the last "stable" release at the time
and it took pmwiki 3 years to release the next version 2.20

are updates really important?
only the security and functionality fixes are important

however luckily we have not had any major/noticable security flaws

or atleast no one was willing to attempt doing so...

To future editors of the Wiki...

When you decide to make a new wikipage, double check to make sure there is not already a wikipage that already exists.

For Example:

TheGuildHall is created by Bob, not realizing that there is a wikipage named GuildHall that covers the same exact thing.
